U ovom radu provedena je teorijska usporedba pokretnih mreža 2G, 2.5G i 3G (GSM, GPRS; EDGE, UMTS i HSPA) te njihove primjenjivosti u realnom okruženju. Izvršeno je praktično mjerenje značajki EDGE, UMTS i HSDPA sustava u radnim uvjetima te su rezultati mjerenja uspoređeni s očekivanim teorijskim rezultatima. Na kraju je dan zaključak o primjenjivosti navedenih sustava te njihovih odstupanja u odnosu na teorijske modele.Summary: Summary. The thesis carries out theoretical comparison of 2G, 2.5G and 3G mobile networks (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSPA) and their applicability in the real environment. Practical measurements of characteristics under operating conditions for EDGE, UMTS and HSPA systems were conducted and measurement results were compared to expected theoretical results. In the end, the conclusion about the applicability of these systems and their deviations from the theoretical models was given.

Sažetak. U ovom radu provedena je teorijska usporedba pokretnih mreža 2G, 2.5G i 3G (GSM, GPRS; EDGE, UMTS i HSPA) te njihove primjenjivosti u realnom okruženju. Izvršeno je praktično mjerenje značajki EDGE, UMTS i HSDPA sustava u radnim uvjetima te su rezultati mjerenja uspoređeni s očekivanim teorijskim rezultatima. Na kraju je dan zaključak o primjenjivosti navedenih sustava te njihovih odstupanja u odnosu na teorijske modele.
